Aarogya setu app-COVID-19 tracking app with have reached 90 Million users will now be reaching 11 Crores more people who are using Reliance jiophone. The government are soon going to launch the new version of Aarogya Setu app especially for jiophone users and it has been declared by Abhishek Singh Ceo of MyGov India in a video call.
India, which is going through the world’s biggest shutdown battle of the coronavirus, last month only government launched the Aarogya Setu app as a Health Bridge app which uses Bluetooth and GPS-based application to alerts users from the person who has COVID-19 Disease or may have come in contact with people who later test positive for COVID-19.
Aarogya Setu app has been downloaded more than 90 million times so far. Initially, the app was available in Android and Apple devices But now with the announcement Aarogya Setu app will be soon available with the basic features phone users also like jioPhone.
Abhishek Singh also said that the government is already working on a version of Aarogya Setu for KaiOS, the operating system that runs on Reliance Jio phones with provides cheapest 4G internet facility.
He also added “…we know that in India the number of smartphones is around 45 to 50 crores and there is a large number of people who use feature phones. And then there is again around 11 crore people who use Jio phones. So, for the Jio phones which use the KaiOS operating system, we are developing a version of Aarogya Setu which will work on KaiOS and the Jio phone so that around 11 crores more people will be covered with that version of the app”.
But until now Abhishek has not to tell when the version will be out and in which stage the app development reached. Even India’s technology ministry and Reliance Jio also have not responded to anything yet so when this app will launch for jiophone users is a mystery till now.
As India is eased some of its lockdown restrictions, and allowing public and private sector employment, the government have said that company heads will be held responsible for ensuring 100 per cent coverage among employees and all people who are going for work should have Covid-19 tracking app –Aarogya Setu app which is used to tracks the user’s movements and speeds up the process of identifying, testing and isolating people exposed to the virus before they spread it to others people.Aarogya Setu app sends its data to the government server using your mobile location and Bluetooth. The Aarogya Setu app is currently available in 11 different languages. Such similar app is also been used in other countries as well as in Australia and Colombia etc.
But if you don’t have a smartphone, don’t worry you can also use the Aarogya Setu Interactive Voice Response System (IVRS) toll-free number. You just have to give a missed call to ‘1921’ and they will call you back requesting for inputs regarding their health. The inputs provided by you as a person will add to the Aarogya Setu database and the details will be processed to send alerts to people on the action.
Before a French hacker, name Elliot Alderson on Twitter has pointed out the privacy flaws of Aarogya Setu app in India’s app but the government responded that people have no personal data in it and also assuring that it is safe for citizens.
